Goodbye 2021

At this time of the year I take time to look forward and set some goals for the year ahead. Keeping the goals simple and easy to remember works best for me. After making space for a quiet time with the Lord, here’s my three goals for 2022, all beginning with letter ‘P’ (helps me to remember)!

Prayer

Prayer is such a wonderful gift and privilege, especially praying for my family, the church, the nations, those in need and especially praying for other friends who are in church leadership. My first goal is to make and take regular time for prayer.

Personal holiness.

Pastor Rick Warren once said that personal purity leads to public power in ministry. There are so many temptations that seek to lead us away from Jesus and what he has called us to do. These temptations often come our way through the Christian person’s enemies; the world, the flesh and the devil. My second goal is, ‘to make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him - Pure and blameless until the day of Christ.’ 2 Peter 3:14.

Power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

My third goal is to seek, know and experience the power and presence of the Holy Spirit more in my life. There is nothing better than to know and enjoy the fruit of the Spirit on a daily basis: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. My third goal is to enjoy God’s presence and power in my life.
